No. 3 'Iolani improves to 5-0

Brittney Guro pitched a five-hitter with seven strikeouts as visiting 'Iolani beat Kamehameha, 4-0, yesterday in an Interscholastic League of Honolulu softball game.

No. 3 'Iolani improved to 5-0; Kamehameha dropped to 2-4.

The Raiders' Shanna Tashiro batted 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs, and Kryn Masutani, Jana Tokuhama and Kim Souza each had two hits.

ST. FRANCIS GOES 2-3 AGAINST TOP FIELD

Briana Tovio-Asato was named to the all-tournament team and St. Francis finished with a 2-3 record at the NIKE's Faster To First softball tournament last week in Huntington Beach, Calif.

Tovio-Asato, a sophomore catcher-infielder, batted .635 with a home run and two doubles.

The Troubadours beat Simi Valley, Calif., ranked 25th in the ESPN Rise rankings, 2-0, in 8 innings on Friday, and Carl Sandburg, the top team in Illinois, 3-2, on Saturday.

They lost, 7-0, to 15th-ranked West Orange, Fla., and 5-3, to El Modena, Calif., on Thursday. They finished the tournament with a 10-2 loss to Van Murrita, Calif., ranked 39th by ESPN Rise rankings, on Saturday.
