The University of Hawai'i's football game against Wisconsin on Dec. 5 will be televised nationally on ESPN or ESPN2 — one of at least two UH regular-season games this season on national TV.
Kickoff for the UH-Wisconsin game will be announced later. UH's other nationally televised game will be at Louisiana Tech, 2 p.m. Hawai'i time on Wednesday, Sept. 30, on ESPN2.
The Western Athletic Conference yesterday announced an 11-game ESPN/ESPN2 football schedule for 2009, highlighted by a season-opening game between Oregon at defending WAC champion Boise State on ESPN.
Boise State is scheduled to play six games on national TV. Seven of the WAC's nine teams will make at least one appearance in 2009. Additional television games are expected to be added to the ESPN networks in the upcoming months.
"The last five years in the WAC have featured two BCS games, 18 other bowl appearances, and four teams that posted undefeated regular seasons," said WAC commissioner Karl Benson.
"We are expecting another exciting season in 2009 and are pleased to have ESPN as our television partner," he added.
