HALE'IWA
Grand opening Sunday for Hale'iwa Farmers' Market
Hale'iwa Farmers' Market will hold a grand opening from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday on Kamehameha Highway between Hale'iwa Beach Park and the Joseph P. Leong Highway, also known as the Hale'iwa bypass road.
Touted as sustainable and green, the market includes 50 vendors and there will be entertainment after a brief opening ceremony and a blessing by kupuna Aunty Betty.
Growers, as well as food vendors and educational demonstrators, will be at the BYOSB (bring your own shopping bag) event. Free parking is available and shopping bags will be given to the first 500 customers.
The market's goal is to be fully green, with solar power and a recycling campaign.
The market is sponsored by Kamehameha Schools, the Sustainability Association of Hawaii, Solar Professionals, and Lenox Metal LLC.
