EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — Los Angeles Lakers rookie Sun Yue has mononucleosis and is expected to miss the opening of training camp next week.
Sun, who arrived from China on Sunday, was taken to the hospital Wednesday night after becoming ill, and he tested positive for mononucleosis. The Lakers said Thursday he's out indefinitely.
A point guard taken by the Lakers with the 40th pick in the NBA draft, Sun has played three seasons for the Beijing Aoshen Olympians in the American Basketball Association.
