State hosts island healthcare gathering

HONOLULU — Leaders of U.S. Pacific and Caribbean island territories will be gathering in Hawai'i next week to discuss how to improve healthcare.
Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne will host the summit scheduled for Monday and Tuesday.
Federal, state and island officials responsible for healthcare in the areas will participate.
Those attending include the governors of American Samoa, Guam, and the Northern Mariana Islands and the health commissioner of the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The U.S. Congressional delegations from American Samoa and the Virgin Islands will also participate.
The Marshall Islands and Palau will send high-level representatives.
