Hawai'i hotels reported declines in occupancy and average daily rates for July as the visitor industry continued to slump, according to the latest industry analysis released today by an industry consultant.
Statewide hotel occupancy fell by 6.5 percentage points to 74.2 percent while room rates declined by 0.8 percent to $211.53, according to the report from Hospitality Advisors LLC. The softer hotel performance reflects a 14.1 percent drop in visitor arrivals reported previously by the state Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism.
Statewide hotel room demand fell by 10.3 percent to 1.3 million room nights sold.
