Former Farrington High School and University of Hawaii star Jesse Sapolu will be honorary game captain when his former team, the San Francisco 49ers, plays host to the Arizona Cardinals Sunday.
At every home game this season the 49ers will invite a former player to return to the field and serve as an honorary game captain.
Sapolu, drafted in the 11th round in 1983, played for the 49ers from 1983-97, earning four Super Bowl rings and two Pro Bowl invitations while being a part of 12 NFC West Division championships.
During his tenure with the 49ers, he served as the rock of the offensive line that protected both Joe Montana and Steve Young through four Super Bowl triumphs.
