Katy Kok service Saturday in Mäkua
Advertiser Staff
A service to celebrate the life of Katy Kok has been set for 6 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Makua Beach on the Wai'anae Coast. Kok, 60, died of an apparent heart attack Aug. 19 at her home in Makaha.
Friends, family and wellwishers are invited to attend to show support for the continuation of Kok's legacy.
In 1986 Kok founded what is today the state's largest voluntary litter cleanup group — Nani 'O Wai'anae. The group was the state's first certified affiliate of the national Keep America Beautiful organization.
From humble beginnings, Kok built Nani 'O Wai'anae into a force of some 2,000 volunteers who shared her passion for keeping the Wai'anae Coast, O'ahu and the Neighbor Islands litter-free.
