Weather: Occasional showers expected today

A high pressure area far to the northeast of the state will keep the trade winds blowing for a few more days before they begin to diminish later in the week as the high moves farther away, the National Weather Service said.

Clouds and showers will be most prevalent over windward and mountain areas.

A few showers will reach the leeward sections from time to time, forecasters said.

Here's how the next few days are shaping up:

Today: Isolated showers after noon. Partly cloudy, with a high near 86. East wind around 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Tonight: Scattered showers, mainly after midnight. Partly cloudy, with a low around 72. East wind around 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Thursday: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 87. East wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Thursday Night: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 72. East wind between 11 and 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Friday: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 86. East wind between 11 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Friday Night: Scattered showers, mainly before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 73. East wind around 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
