Jenkins wins third state cross country title, helps Leilehua win; Punahou girls four-peat

Leilehua senior Bryce Jenkins won his third straight state title at this morning's Honolulu Marathon/Hawai'i High School Athletic Association state cross country championships at Hawai'i Preparatory Academy on the Big Island, helping the Mules defend their team title.
Jenkins finished the boys 3-mile race in 17 minutes, 13.00 seconds. Hawai'i Baptist senior Matthew Nakamoto was second in 17:34.40 and Hilo senior Mark Turner was third in 17:48.75.
Leilehua placed four runners in the top 21 to defend its team title with a meet-low 75 points. Kamehameha was second with 99 and 'Iolani was third with 104.
Leilehua's Margarito Martinez was fourth in 18:01.10, Shannon Cosey was 13th in 18:47.40 and Shannon White was 21st in 19:08.15.
King Kekaulike senior Bailey Massenburg won the girls 3-mile race in 20:42.90. Honoka'a sophomore Tialana Greenwell was second in 21:03.20 and Kamehameha's Ashlee Jimenez was third in 21:19.95.
Punahou won its fourth straight girls title, finishing with a meet-low 48 points after placing four girls in the top 14. Farrah Madanay was seventh in 21:55.05, followed by Brooke Laporte (11th, 22:27.85), Julia Brand (12th, 22:32.15) and Kyleigh Mann (14th, 22:33.00).
Seabury Hall finished second for the second consecutive year with 117 points, followed by Kamehameha with 118.
