McKinley and Kapolei high schoolers' artwork will be on display as part of a nationwide safe teen-driving campaign, Project Ignition, through Nov. 7 at the Hawai'i State Library, 478 S. King St. The chosen artwork — also to be emblazoned on TheBus, as bumper stickers and in magnetic vinyl — came from about 10 students, and the winning works brought in $5,000 from State Farm and the National Youth Leadership Council. The money was used for materials and will also help send the top students to present the work in Tennessee in March; 951-1160.

FINAL WORD
"We don't tone things down. People understand that this is what we do, and it's not personal. Well, it's personal at some level. But people either have a sense of humor about it or they don't."
