WAHIAWA
Wahiawa revitalization plan invites public input

The Wahiawa Community and Business Association's Community Strengthening Program will hold a town meeting from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight in the Ka'ala Elementary School cafetorium.

Organizers will present and accept feedback on the draft Wahiawa Neighborhood Revitalization Strategy Area application, and discuss the creation of a community-based development organization to be responsible for implementing the actions in the application.

The program is being supported by Empower O'ahu.

Community concerns raised at a previous meeting include homelessness and crime; developing the town center as the core location of business and social interaction; building civic pride and community leadership and participation; improving access to health care and supporting Wahiawa's community hospital; addressing concerns about speeding and traffic; beautifying the town; economic development; schools; and poverty.
