Tennis: Murray defeats Simon to win Madrid Masters title

MADRID, Spain — Fourth-ranked Andy Murray beat Gilles Simon of France 6-4, 7-6 (6) Sunday to win the Madrid Masters.
The fourth-ranked Murray became the first Briton to win four titles in a season.
Murray beat Roger Federer in the semifinals while Simon, who will jump to No. 9 in Monday's rankings, defeated top-ranked Rafael Nadal to reach his fourth final of 2008.
