Weather: Scattered, isolated showers likely today

A strong low-pressure system moving across the North Pacific will weaken a high pressure area to the north of the state, the National Weather Service said.

The trade winds, in turn, will diminish by Monday.

In the mean time, trade wind showers will affect mainly the mauka and windward areas of the islands with an isolated shower or two drifting over leeward areas, forecasters said.

Here's a closer look at the weekend weather:

Today: Isolated showers after noon. Partly cloudy, with a high near 84. East wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Tonight: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 72. East wind around 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Sunday: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 85. East wind between 13 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Sunday night: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 71. East wind around 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Monday: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 84. East wind between 13 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
