There will be a number of 24-hour lane closures through the weekend in the area of Pu'uloa Road and Salt Lake Boulevard.

Areas affected are between the Moanalua Freeway and Mokumoa Street.

The project will allow the Department of Transportation to reconstruct pavement.

Specifically, from 7:30 p.m. today through 5:30 a.m. Monday:

• Pu'uloa Road: Southbound, the right-turn lane to Salt Lake Boulevard and left-turn lane to Pukoloa Street will be open, but the through lanes will be closed. All north Pu'uloa lanes will be closed past Mokumoa. Motorists wishing to travel north on Pu'uloa to the freeway will be directed to turn right onto Mokumoa, left onto Mapunapuna, left onto Pukoloa and right onto Pu'uloa.

• Salt Lake Boulevard: Right-turn only will be allowed in the south-bound direction at the Pu'uloa intersection. Through lanes to Pukoloa will be closed. Motorists wishing to access Pukoloa should proceed south on Pu'uloa, left onto Mokumoa, left onto Mapunapuna, and proceed to Pukoloa. The left-turn lane to Pu'uloa Road will be closed. Motorists wishing to travel north on Pu'uloa to the freeway will be directed to proceed south on Pu'uloa, left onto Mokumoa, left onto Mapunapuna, left onto Pukoloa and right onto Pu'uloa.

• Pukoloa Street: The through lane to Salt Lake Boulevard and right-turn lane to Pu'uloa will be open. The left-turn lane to Pu'uloa in the south-bound direction will be closed. Motorists wishing to access Pu'uloa Road in the south-bound direction will be directed to proceed south on Mapunapuna, right onto Mokumoa Street and left onto Pu'uloa.

Electronic messageboards and detour signs will be placed in and around the construction site, and special duty officers will be directing traffic at key intersections.

Motorists are advised to use alternative routes where possible. Motorists traveling west on Moanalua Freeway into the Salt Lake area are advised to take the Moanalua Valley/Red Hill Off-ramp (Exit 2), turn right on Ala Aolani Street, and turn left to Ala Napunani Street.

Motorists traveling east on Moanalua Freeway into the Salt Lake area are advised to exit at the Moanalua Valley/Red Hill Off-Ramp (Exit 2), proceed past the Ala Kapuna Street Overpass, and turn right onto Ala Napunani.

Motorists are advised to use caution while driving through the work area, and to allow for extra travel time. Roadwork is weather-permitting.
