Surf: North Shore back down to 5-8 feet today

Advertiser Staff

The hopper north swell that brought wave faces of 15 feet or more to the North Shore of O'ahu has dissipated and surf there is expected to be 5 to 8 feet today, the National Weather Service said.

Elsewhere on O'ahu look for surf of 3 to 5 feet along west- and east-facing shores, and 2 to 4 feet along south-facing shores.

Outlook through Monday, Oct. 20: The current north northwest swell will continue to lower to small levels Wednesday night into Thursday.

A much smaller northwest swell from 320 degrees is expected to fill in Thursday night, peak on Friday, then slowly lower through the weekend.

Another small northwest swell from 320 degrees may arrive Sunday night or Monday. Small background swells from the south will continue through the week, with a slightly larger swell from 190 degrees possibly filling in Friday and lingering through the weekend. Short period east swells will continue throughout the week with a bit of a rise in heights as the trades fill back in.
