Kaimuki home invasion suspect arrested

Police yesterday arrested one of three suspects wanted for a home invasion robbery last month in Kaimuki.

Jason Smith, 25, of Makiki is uncharged but in custody tonight at the main police station cellblock for investigation of first-degree robbery, kidnapping, and first-degree burglary. Police are holding him on three outstanding warrants totaling $1,500.

Smith was identified as a suspect by the robbery victim from a photographic lineup. He was arrested yesterday by Crime Reduction Unit, Specialized Services Division and Criminal Investigation personnel at 6:50 p.m. at 6640 Hawai'i Kai Drive.

The home invasion occurred Oct. 27 at 11 p.m.

Three men allegedly forced their way into the Kaimuki home, pointed assault-type rifles at a 21-year-old male resident and several others and ordered them to the ground, and serched the home. The men fled with undisclosed items from the home.

No injuries were reported.

Two other suspects, who have not been arrested, are described as an black male in his 20s, 6 feet tall and 170-180 pounds and a Polynesian male, early 20s, about 5 feet 7 and between 180-200 pounds.
