Honolulu Police Department homicide investigators today were awaiting the results of autopsies on a man and woman who were found dead yesterday afternoon at a Ko Olina Coconut Plantation home, police said.
The Honolulu Medical Examiner's Office said today that it had not positively identified the man or woman, and that the autopsies would be conducted next week.
Police released few other details today.
But they said HPD's District 8 patrol officers responded to a call to check on the welfare of occupants at the Ko Olina residence shortly after 5 p.m. yesterday. Officers found the body of the woman, age 36, in the living room, and then the body of the man, age 40, in an enclosed garage, police said.
Both the man and woman were dead when police arrived. The man's death was classified as a suicide and the woman's an unattended death, police said.
Police suspect that the woman died first and that thereafter the man went into the garage and killed himself.
