MMA: Penn, St-Pierre press conference set
Advertiser Staff
Hilo's BJ Penn and Canada's Georges St-Pierre are scheduled to appear at a
public press conference at the Blaisdell Concert Hall tomorrow.
The press conference was originally scheduled to take place at the Waikiki Shell, but organizers moved it indoors because of a forecast of rain.
Penn and St-Pierre will talk about their UFC world championship bout, which
is set for Jan. 31 at Las Vegas. Penn is the UFC lightweight (155 pounds)
world champion; St-Pierre is the UFC welterweight (170) champ.
The Jan. 31 bout will be for St-Pierre's title, so Penn will move up one
weight class for the fight.
UFC president Dana White is also scheduled to appear at tomorrow's press
conference.
Admission is free, and the first 2,000 fans will receive a free UFC T-shirt.
Doors open at 4 p.m., with live musical performances by J-Boogs and Fiji at
5 p.m.
The press conference will start around 6:15, and video highlights of Penn
and St-Pierre will be shown on a big screen at 6:45.
