Bill Amis had 23 points and 12 rebounds to lead the University of Hawai'i men's basketball team to an 80-63 victory over Chaminade in an exhibition game tonight.

A crowd of 2,562 at the Stan Sheriff Center watched the Rainbow Warriors win their second, and final, exhibition game of the season against a NCAA Division II program. Hawai'i also defeated Hawai'i-Hilo earlier in the week.

The final result and statistics will not count for either team this season.

Amis shot 9 of 11 from the field and went 4 of 4 on free throws. Lasha Parghalava added 21 points and Petras Balocka contributed 15 points and seven rebounds for Hawai'i.

The 'Bows took a 47-41 lead at halftime, with Amis and Parghalava combining for 30 points on 10-of-13 shooting. Amis went 6 of 7 from the field and had 15 points and nine rebounds in the first half. Parghalava shot 4 of 6, including 3 of 4 from 3-point range, and also scored 15 in the first half.

Parghalava hit back-to-back 3s — including a 30-footer as the shot clock was expiring — to highlight a 12-0 run that gave Hawai'i a 27-18 lead midway through the first half.

The 'Bows increased the lead to 56-43 early in the second half, and Chaminade did not threaten the rest of the way.

Jamar Berry and Shane Hanson led the Silverswords with 11 points each.

Four key players were not in uniform for Hawai'i tonight: Roderick Flemings (bereavement leave), Hiram Thompson (hamstring), Brandon Adams (paperwork issue) and Conrad Fitzgerald (face).

Hawai'i will open its regular season on Nov. 14 against San Francisco as part of the Verizon Wireless Tip-Off Classic at the Stan Sheriff Center.
