Charges were pending Tuesday night against a 34-year-old Kalihi man who allegedly tried to rob a cab driver Monday night.

The suspect was arrested shortly before 10 p.m. Monday at Waialae and 7th avenues and booked for first-degree robbery.

The 56-year-old male cabbie told police he picked up the suspect in Kalihi and took him to Kaimuki where the man tried to rob him at knifepoint. The cabbie left the car, ran and called police.
