HAWAII BRIEFS
Suspect, 28, held in threat to boys

Advertiser Staff

A 28-year-old man who had recently been released from prison was being held by police yesterday after allegedly threatening to kill several young boys in a Nanakuli neighborhood.

Police said the man, who gave no local address, was arrested Sunday evening near La'aloa and Pa'akai streets after he verbally threatened five boys, ages 5 to 11.

He was being held last night on a possible first-degree terroristic threatening charge.

Police did not say what the man had been in prison for.

HPD MAKES 18 MORE DUI ARRESTS

Honolulu police made 18 more arrests for drunken driving between Sunday night and yesterday morning.

That's on top of the 25 people arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of an intoxicant Saturday night and early Sunday morning.

Police said the arrests were made in all districts as part of a continuing DUI crackdown over the Memorial Day weekend.

One driver also was charged with resisting an order to stop, and another was charged with driving without a license, police said.
