Moanalua High junior Tadd Fujikawa shot an adventurous 1-under-par 71 Saturday and was tied for 38th entering the final round of the Munsingwear Open KSB Cup in Okayama, Japan.
Fujikawa, 17, has a 54-hole total of 3-under-par 213.
Hideto Tanihara shot a 65 for a 16-under 197 total and a three-stroke lead in the $971,000 Japan Golf Tour Organization tournament.
Fujikawa started on the back nine, shooting 1-over 37 with a bogey on the par-4 11th.
The front nine proved quite a ride for Fujikawa, who had an eagle, three birdies and three bogeys.
After a birdie on No. 1 and a bogey on No. 3, Fujikawa began a move up the leaderboard when he eagled the par-5 fifth and birdied the par-4 sixth.
However, bogeys on Nos. 7 and 8 proved costly for Fujikawa, who closed strong with a birdie on No. 9.
