Galaxy 18 satellite launch successful

A satellite that will deliver television, data and telecommunications services to Hawai'i as well as Intelsat Ltd. customers in North America and Puerto Rico has been successfully launched into a geosynchronous orbit.
The Galaxy 18 satellite built by Space Systems/Loral joined 16 other satellites that cover North America, Central America and the Caribbean for Intelsat.
The satellite, launched Wednesday, has 24 C- and 24 Ku-band transponders.
HAWAI'I KAI CENTER ADDING WINE SHOP
A boutique wine shop is being added to Koko Marina Center as part of improvements to the Hawai'i Kai shopping center that include $3.1 million in renovation work.
D'vine Wine & Spirits plans to open soon in space next to Koko Head Triathlon, and follows the recent opening of home furnishings importer and retailer Bali Pacific Trading Co.
Renovation work at the center includes reroofing, repaving and repainting parts of the center. Work to replace docks for 95 boats began in February and is scheduled to be finished next month.
HMSA AWARDED FOR HEALTHPASS
The Hawaii Medical Service Association said it has received an award for improving member health and reducing medical costs through its HealthPass wellness program.
The award was presented by HealthMedia Inc., a company that has programs that emulate a health coaching session via the Internet and has HMSA as one of its customers.
PANEL TO FOCUS ON RETAIL IN KAPOLEI
The Kapolei Chamber of Commerce will look at the future of the city's retail sector during a luncheon program today.
Panelists will discuss upcoming projects including Kapolei Commons, Crossroads at Kapolei, Costco and Kapolei Village Center.
Speakers include Jeff Dinsmore, president of MKC Management LLC, representing Kapolei Commons; Carol Ai May, partner in Simply Organized LLC, representing Crossroads at Kapolei; Roger Wall, vice chairman of Foodland Super Market, representing Kapolei Village Center; and Max Ramos, a Costco warehouse manager, representing Costco.
The program will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the JW Marriott Ihilani Resort and Spa, Malolo Room.
BENEFIT BREAKFAST TICKETS ON SALE
Finance Factors has begun selling tickets to its annual Benefit Breakfast set for July 11.
A total of 1,000 breakfasts will be sold with all proceeds going to benefit the River of Life Mission.
The $5 local-style breakfast includes Kukui Brand Portuguese sausage, scrambled eggs and rice. The event runs from 6:30 to 9 a.m. in front of the Finance Factors Center, 1164 Bishop St.

ESTATE SERVICES PACT TARGETS JAPANESE
First Hawaiian Bank has signed an agreement with Japan's Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking Corp. to provide estate settlement services for Japanese citizens in Hawai'i.
"Hawai'i has long been an attractive investment market for Japanese citizens and we anticipate continued investment growth in the future," said Don Horner, First Hawaiian's president and chief executive officer.
Mitsubishi UFJ Trust is a unit of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group.
