ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Naval Academy Athletic Director Chet Gladchuk has been granted a contract extension through 2015.
His first seven years at the academy included recognition by his peers in 2005 as the Division I-A Athletic Director of the Year.
Gladchuk is completing a year described in a sports department news release as the most successful in Naval Academy history. The Midshipmen set a school record for conference championships with 12 and won more than two-thirds of all contests.
The Navy football team has competed in five consecutive bowl games during Gladchuk's tenure.
Navy is coached by Ken Niumatalolo, a University of Hawai'i alum, who replaced Paul Johnson last December. Johnson, a former Hawai'i assistant, left to become head coach at Georgia Tech.
