A 22-year-old man from the Waimanalo area was arrested last night for second-degree attempted murder after reportedly attempting to choke his 48-year-old female companion.

Police said the incident occurred at about 5:30 p.m. The woman reportedly managed to free herself and escape, and the suspect was arrested nearby a short time later. He also reportedly damaged some of her property, police said.
