Hawaiian, United airlines forge codeshare agreement

United is adding Hawaiian Airlines as a codeshare partner, the two carriers announced today.
The move allows United to replace previous partner Aloha Airlines, which went out of business in March. United says it expects the flights under the codeshare pact to begin by the end of summer.
Codeshare deals allow airlines to place their codes and sell connecting seats on each others' flights. United currently offers 18 daily flights between Hawai'i and the Mainland, something United says is "more than any other carrier." United customers will be able to fly to Hawai'i on United and connect to Hawaiian Air flights within the state. United customers can also earn and redeem miles on Hawaiian's intra-Hawai'i flights.
