H-2 north Mililani Mauka exit closed again this weekend

Advertiser Staff

HONOLULU — The state Department of Transportation advises Oahu motorists that the H-2 Freeway northbound Mililani Mauka off-ramp will be closed again continuously from 7 a.m. on Friday, May 16, through 4 a.m. on Monday, May 19, for pavement reconstruction and resurfacing.

Mililani Mauka-bound motorists are advised to proceed on the H-2 Freeway to the following Mililani Town off-ramp, turn right onto Meheula Parkway, and make a U-turn at the Kuahelani Avenue intersection or to use alternate routes such as Kamehameha Highway.

Additional police officers will be on-site at the Kuahelani Avenue intersection directing traffic to minimize congestion in the area. Electronic traffic messageboards are also posted in the area to notify motorists of the closure.

At an approximate cost of $16.2 million, this rehabilitation project will include full pavement reconstructions at the H-2 Freeway Waipio Interchange, Mililani Interchange and Kipapa Stream Bridge. The improvements also include the installation of a right-turn storage lane at the southbound Ka Uka Boulevard off-ramp and the replacement of guardrails, traffic signs, pavement markings and lane striping. These improvements will be made by Kiewit Pacific, Co., with an anticipated completion in December 2008.
