Top boys seeds fall in state

The top seeds in boys singles and doubles fell yesterday at the Carlsmith Ball/Hawai'i High School Athletic Association State Tennis Championships at Holua Tennis Complex and Outrigger Keauhou Beach Resort.
Doug Ho of Punahou defeated Matthew Westmoreland of Island Pacific Academy, the boys' No. 1 seed, 6-3, 2-6, 6-3, in the quarterfinals. Ho, the fifth seed, defeated No. 4 Larson Oliva of Pearl City in the semifinals, 6-1, 6-1, and will face Fernando Aguirre Gomez Corta of St. Joseph in today's final. Aguirre, the second seed, beat Joshua Wong of Hilo, 6-1, 6-3, in the semifinals.
In the boys doubles, Jordan Lum and Taylor Pacarro of Pearl City upset defending champion and top-seeded Alex Ching and Erik Shoji of Punahou, 7-5, 6-3, in the semifinals. Lum and Pacarro, the fourth seed, will play third-seeded Shaun Chow and Brett Katayama of Punahou in the final. Chow and Katayama beat second seed Devin Anderson and Marco Kobayashi of 'Iolani, 6-3, 7-5, in the semifinals.
In the girls singles, top seed and defending champion Kristin Lim of Punahou defeated No. 6 Sayo Tsukamoto of Kealakehe, 6-1, 6-0, in the semifinals. She will face second seed Jackie Owens of Lahainaluna, who beat Allison Chen of Punahou, 6-3, 6-2.
In the girls doubles, top seed Ashley Ohira and Ashley Nagaoka of Punahou defeated No. 4 Sherise Lum and Kimberly Wo of Punahou, 6-0, 6-1, in the semifinals. Ohira and Nagaoka will face No. 2 Kelsey Daguio and Kelly Domingo of Sacred Hearts, who beat third seed Adrienne Hamada and Alyssa Shimizu of Mililani, 6-0, 6-1.
Punahou lead the boys and girls team standings entering today's final day.
