WAIPI'O — All top four seeds advanced into the semifinals of the O'ahu Interscholastic Association water polo playoffs with quarterfinal wins last night at the Veterans' Memorial Aquatic Center.

The wins by top-seeded Kahuku, No. 2 Roosevelt, No. 3 Leilehua and No. 4 Kapolei also clinched four of the league's six state tournament berths.

Gina Ahue scored six goals and Kelsey Wardle added five as Kahuku defeated Kaiser, 21-5. Roosevelt defeated Mililani, 15-3, behind three goals apiece from Chyla Ramos and Leticia Ruiz.

In other quarterfinal games, Jennifer Morihara scored six goals and Brittany Sweeny added four as Leilehua defeated Kaimuki, 18-7. Alexandra Jamora scored twice as Kapolei held off Kalani, 5-4. The Hurricanes led 3-2 at halftime and 5-4 after the third quarter. Neither team scored in the fourth quarter.

The tournament continues with semifinal and consolation games today. The winners of today's consolation games will also receive state tournament berths.

The championship game is tomorrow. Kahuku has won every OIA title since the sport began in 2003.
