Looking for a fresh, live-theater experience? Kumu Kahua's "The Romance of Magno Rubio" is continuing through April 13. Here's what Advertiser theater critic Joseph T. Rozmiarek had to say:
"Stick fighting, choral speaking, English subtitles to Filipino lyrics, and a slow-motion brawl all come together in the unlikely passion of a 1930s farm worker for a woman he has never met. Excellent ensemble work creates an innocent and transcendent state of mind."
"Magno Rubio" repeats at 8 p.m. today and Thursdays-Saturdays, 2 p.m. Sundays (except tomorrow, which is Easter) through April 12, at Kumu Kahua Theatre.
Tickets are $16 general, $13 seniors, $10 students; Thursday nights: $13 general, $11 seniors, $5 students and unemployed. 536-4441, www.kumukahua.org.
