Volleyball Warriors outlast USC in five games

The University of Hawai'i men's volleyball team ended a three-game road losing streak, outlasting Southern California, 30-28, 16-30, 17-30, 32-30, 17-15, tonight in Los Angeles.

The Warriors improved to 10-11 overall and 7-9 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation. The Men of Troy are 10-13 and 7-10.

In the fifth game, the Warriors went out to a 10-7 lead, but the Trojans were able to tie it at 14. A kill by Brennon Dyer gave UH a 15-14 lead, but Troy Murphy's kill tied it at 15. A block by Nejc Zemijak and Keali'i Frank gave the Warriors a 16-15 lead and a hitting error by Murphy ended the match.

Dyer had 15 kills and Joshua Walker 14 for the Warriors. Steven Grgas had eight blocks. Ric Cervantes had 15 digs.

Murphy led USC with 32 kills. Juan Figueroa had 27.
