Better Business Bureau selects Torch Award finalists

Hawai'i's Better Business Bureau has announced the finalists of its 2008 BBB Torch Awards.
The 2008 BBB Torch Awards finalists are:
• Consumer Leadership: Olin Lagon, Eric Nakamura, and June Watanabe
• Marketplace Excellence – Business: Crazy Shirts, Hawaiian Airlines, and Maui Divers
• Marketplace Excellence – Public Charity: Hawaii Youth Opera, Leukemia Lymphoma Society, and Mental Health Kokua
• Advancing Marketplace Trust – Business: 101 Financial, E Noa Tours, and Mr. Sandman
• Advancing Marketplace Trust – Public Charity: Battleship Missouri and Mediation Center of the Pacific
"The BBB Torch Awards program is our way to illuminate the importance of a marketplace where buyers and sellers, and donors and charities can trust each other," Dwight Kealoha, chief executive officer of Hawai'i's BBB, said in a news release. "This year's finalists reflect our mission as leaders in advancing marketplace trust and we are honored to recognize them for their commitment to fair, honest, and ethical marketplace practices."
Representatives from last year's BBB Torch Awards winners judged the entries and selected the finalists.
Winners will be announced at the 2008 BBB Torch Awards Luncheon on April 17 at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Resort & Spa. Judge Thomas K. Kaulukukui, Jr., (Ret.) is the event's keynote speaker.
Individual tickets are $75 for BBB Accredited Businesses and nonprofit organizations, and $90 for all others. Corporate table sponsorships are also available.
