An O'ahu grand jury yesterday indicted former Bishop Estate trustee Gerard Jervis on first-degree criminal property damage and other charges relating to a March 7 car chase in Lanikai.

Jervis, 59, is accused of chasing a group of teens in his car after they allegedly threw eggs at his house. The chase ended when the teens' SUV crashed into a utility pole guy wire, leaving the vehicle at a precarious angle.

Jervis' lawyer, Paul Cunney, has said Lanikai residents had been subjected to eggings and mailbox vandalism for the past two months.

The grand jury yesterday also charged Jervis with first-degree terroristic threatening, operating a vehicle under the influence and harassment.

Cunney has acknowledged that Jervis was drinking earlier in the evening, and police reported that Jervis had a blood alcohol level of .10. The legal limit is .08.

The harassment charge alleges that Jervis "did insult, taunt or challenge" a Lanikai resident who went to the intersection of 'A'alapapa and Ka'elepulu drives that night and gave a witness statement to police.

Cunney yesterday said the woman's statement to police makes no mention of any verbal contact with Jervis.

Jervis remains free on $40,000 bail and plans to turn himself in to police Monday for booking on the indictment, Cunney said.

A lawyer for three of the four boys on Tuesday said police have decided to not pursue charges against the boys, who are all 17-year-old Saint Louis School students. Saint Louis President Walter Kirimitsu said last week that the school disciplined the students but did not say how.
