A serious flu bug and nagging injuries have forced Weber State to postpone the start of its spring football drills until next week, the school said in a press release today.

Hawai'i hosts Weber State on Sept. 6 at Aloha Stadium.

The Wildcats of Ogden, Utah, were scheduled to start spring drills today.

"Right now we are looking to begin on Tuesday but it we could extend that to next Friday depending how we are physically," WSU head coach Ron McBride said. "If we would have started today we probably would have had a total of six healthy offensive and defensive linemen."

McBride said he would make a decision Monday on when the Wildcats would start. The football team's annual Purple and White spring game is scheduled for April 19. If drills begin next Friday the game would be moved to April 26.

Once practice starts, teams have 30 days for 15 practice sessions.
