Eric Sonnenberg cleaned up at the Amatour Hawai'i Awards Dinner last week. The 2007 Player of the Year won the Olomana Shootout and Tour Championship last year and had three other top-five finishes.

Sonnenberg also led the tour in birdies, greens in regulation (62.5 percent) and scoring average (72.8). David Long was No. 1 in fairways hit (77.2), David Ishikawa in putting (28.8 per round) and Jarrett Young in driving distance (296.4).

Amatour will open its 2008 season Saturday and Sunday with its Qualifying Tournament at Makaha Resort. There is a full field of 112 competing to get in this year's six tournaments. The top 24 from last year are exempt.

ISAGAWA WINS

Wailuku's Cassie Isagawa, a freshman at Baldwin, won the Girls Division at the Club Glove Championship earlier this month at the Temecula Creek Inn course in California. The tournament is part of International Junior Golf Tour and featured one girls division and three boys divisions.

Isagawa shot 75-73 to win by three shots. The other 10 girls were from California.

Justin Keiley of Ha'iku took third in the boys 13-15 division, shooting rounds of 69-78. His 147 total was six shots off first.

Isagawa and Keiley earned exemptions into the tournament based on their 2007 HSJGA points standing.

NOTES

Former Hilo resident Kimberly Kim took sixth in the rain-shortened Kathy Whitworth Invitational earlier this week. The tournament was scheduled for two days, in Fort Worth, Texas, but play was canceled Tuesday. Kim shot 75, while Maui's' Kelli Oride had 80 and Honolulu's Cyd Okino 84.

The First Tee of O'ahu Spring Golf Camp will be March 24-28 at Ala Wai Driving Range. It runs from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. each day and is open to golfers ages 7 to 18. Registration fee is $10. To register, contact Ken Zitz at 478-3466 or kwz711@hawaii.rr.com.
