SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Former San Francisco Giants and Waipahu High pitcher Jerome Williams is in town looking to arrange tryouts with clubs.
He has been in contact with Giants minor league pitching coordinator Bert Bradley and hopes to throw for club officials soon.
"I just want a spot somewhere, I don't care if it's A-ball," said Williams, who pitched in six games for Washington last season.
Williams appeared slimmer and said he is down to 230 pounds — about 40 below his heaviest point with the Giants in 2005.
"I wish I'd done it years ago," said Williams, wearing his familiar puka shell necklace to honor his late mother.
