Maui Advisory Council to get dialysis presentation

WAILUKU – The Governor's Maui Community Advisory Council will meet at 5 p.m. Thursday, March 20, at the Cameron Center Auditorium at 95 Mahalani St. The public is invited to attend.
The meeting will feature Melissa-Ann Souza, Maui County director for Liberty Dialysis, who will speak on kidney dialysis service for rural areas on Maui. Additional speakers will include: Lehua Cosma of Hui Laulima, who is trying to secure dialysis service in Hana; John Blumer Buell of the Hana Community Association; and a representative from Hui No Ke Ola Pono, Native Hawaiian Health Care Systems.
Gov. Linda Lingle created community advisory councils to give the neighbor islands a stronger voice in state government. The Maui Community Advisory Council holds monthly public meetings to seek community input and advise the governor of important issues on Maui, public priorities, and recommendations for state boards and commissions.
The members of the Maui Community Advisory Council are: Kathryn Ghean, John Henry, Barbara-Ann Keller, Carl Lindquist, Lori Ululani Sablas, Madge Schaefer (chair), Kalei Sombelon (vice chair), Shan Steinmark, and Gail Takeuchi.
