Surf on north, west shores down again today

Advertiser Staff

Surf along the north- and west-facing shores of O'ahu is down a bit today and no high surf advisories are posted for those areas.

According to the National Weather Service, the surf today is expected to reach 7 to 10 feet on north-facing shores and 4 to 7 feet along west-facing shores.

Surf along the south- and east-facing shores is expected to be 3 to 5 feet today.

The current northwest swell will continue to subside today through Friday. A small south swell is expected to start rolling in tomorrow. In addition, there will be a series of northwest swells reaching the islands late in the weekend and into early next week. The initial swell will bring the surf up to near advisory levels for the north and west shores. The second swell will likely boost the surf into advisory levels Monday for the north and west shores.

Meanwhile, the strengthening trades will result a slight uptick in the surf for the east-facing shores.
