WAI'ANAE
More meetings set on low-income subdivision

Advertiser Staff

Habitat for Humanity Leeward O'ahu was overwhelmed by an outpouring of interest Monday when 325 people showed up to apply for a house in a 31-home subdivision scheduled to break ground in September on the Wai'anae Coast.

The organization partners with low-income families who are ready and willing to accept the responsibility of homeownership but who would not qualify for a traditional mortgage.

Two more public information meetings are scheduled this month, and area residents interested in learning more are urged to attend:

  • Saturday: 10 a.m. to noon at the Wai'anae District Park Multipurpose Room, 85-601 Farrington Highway in Wai'anae.

  • March 24: 5 to 7 p.m. at Kamehameha Schools Community Learning Center, 89-101 Farrington Highway in Nanakuli.
