TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE

"Survivor," 7 p.m., CBS. This has been a good season, with the "fans vs. favorites" gimmick working well. There has been romance, deceit and violence. And that's just in the first four weeks. Now the teams will be re-arranged. For the first time, "fans" will be working with people they used to watch on TV. There's more tonight, CBS promises. One person catches a shark and prepares a feast. Also, several people are injured in a challenge and one faces the possibility of dropping out.

"Bernard and Doris" (2008), 5:15 p.m.; "In Treatment," 7 and 7:30 p.m., all HBO. For straightforward human drama, here's a strong night. First, Susan Sarandon and Ralph Fiennes play heiress Doris Duke and her butler. It's a warm portrait of flawed souls. Then comes a rerun of last week's "Treatment," with a combative couple (Josh Charles and Embeth Davidtz). At 7:30 is the surprising aftermath.

OF NOTE

"Lost," 7 and 8 p.m., ABC. First is a rerun of last week's episode, with turbulence hitting the helicopter that has Sayid and Desmond. It's followed by a new episode, with someone from the past warning Juliet that Charlotte and Faraday aren't rescuers; they must be stopped.

"American Idol," 7 p.m., Fox. Four singers are ousted, giving the show its final 12. Then it will pull back to two nights and one ouster per week.

"The Office," 7 p.m., NBC. In a rerun, Jan keeps fixing up the condo and Michael is sinking into debt. Meanwhile, Jim and Pam visit Dwight's family farm - now a bed-and-breakfast complete with a listing on www.tripadvisor.com.

"New Amsterdam," 8 p.m., Fox. Here's another good episode for this promising series. The case involves murder at a high-end private school. Meanwhile, a flashback to 1941 tells us a little more about John Amsterdam, who has been alive in New York for four centuries.

"Celebrity Apprentice," 8 p.m., NBC. Each team chooses an artist and tries a quick art sale. Along the way, there are accusations of poaching customers and of spying.

"CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," 8 p.m., CBS. In a rerun, colleagues console Grissom, now that Sara has left. Meanwhile, Hodges sets up pretend situations, so lab workers can solve crimes, CSI-style.

"Without a Trace," 9 p.m., CBS. This rerun has a student disappearing, shortly after making racist remarks.

"Lipstick Jungle," 9:01 p.m., NBC. Viewers already know that sweet-looking Reese has stolen designs from her former boss, named Victory. Now those designs resurface, but Victory is hesitant to suspect her.

"Eli Stone," 9:02 p.m., ABC. After having another of his visions, Eli misbehaves in court. To avoid being disbarred he needs his brother (Matt Letscher) and his boss (Victor Garber) to help him.
