Statewide harbor plan to be discussed at Molokai forum

Moloka'i residents are invited to learn more about the state harbors division's upcoming plans at a meeting next week of the Governor's Moloka'i Community Advisory Council.

The council will meet at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Kulana O'iwi, state Department of Hawaiian Home Lands/Office of Hawaiian Affairs Conference Room, 600 Maunaloa Highway, in Kaunakakai.

Michael Formby, deputy director – harbors, Department of Transportation, will update the council on the state's six-year, $842 million system-wide Harbors Modernization Plan and other issues relating to Hawai'i's harbors and maritime industry.

The Moloka'i Community Advisory Council holds monthly public meetings to seek community input and advise the Governor of important issues on Moloka'i. The council also recommends potential nominees for state boards and commissions.

The members of the Governor's Moloka'i Community Advisory Council are Robert Granger, Janice Kalanihuia, Jersula Manaba, Marlene Purdy and Weldon Wichman.
