The Maui Writers Conference will be offering scholarships to Hawaii high school and college students, as well as for writers facing financial hardships.

The scholarship program will open the annual event to those who might not be able to attend the Labor Day weekend conference Aug. 29 to Sept. 1 , this year held on Oahu.

The scholarships offer 50 percent off the registration fee to all high school and university students in the state.
