Kimberly Kim finishes second in Rolex Girls Junior Championship

Former Hilo resident Kimberly Kim closed with a 5-under-par 67 to finish second today at the Rolex Girls Junior Championship. The 54-hole event was played at Carmel Country Club's South Course in Charlotte, N.C.
Kim, who will be a high school senior this fall, shot rounds of 72-73 earlier. She finished two shots behind champion Victoria Tanco, of Florida.
Former Maui resident Kyung Kim tied for 60th, at 75-230.
At the SJGA FootJoy Invitational in Greensboro, N.C., 2006 Hawai'i state high school champion Chan Kim tied for sixth. Kim, who moved to Arizona last year, closed with 70 for a four-day total of 1-under 279.
The winner was Cameron Peck, from Washington, at 66-271. Peck and Kim shared the first-round lead after shooting a course-record 66. Byeong-hun An, of Seoul, South Korea, fired a new course record of 65 yesterday to finish tied for 25th.
