Living up to her reputation as a "big-game" pitcher, Mililani senior Makani Duhaylonsod came away with the biggest postseason honor in the O'ahu Interscholastic Association Red Conference Western Division.

Duhaylonsod, a tall right-hander, was named West Player of the Year after a recent vote of West coaches.

She went 9-1 in the regular season, with a 0.78 earned run average and 49 strikeouts and 12 walks in 63 innings pitched. Duhaylonsod also was a big threat at the plate, batting .450 with three doubles, two home runs and 15 RBIs.

And as usual, she delivered huge victories when the Trojans needed them most. Duhaylonsod tossed a one-hitter with six strikeouts and one walk to help Mililani defeat arch rival Leilehua, 4-0, in a late-season showdown.

She then held off Kapolei, 4-3, to help the Trojans clinch the West title.

Mililani (11-1) led a balanced West all-star first team with three selections: Duhaylonsod, second baseman Kristi Oshiro and outfielder Jamie Aiwohi.

Campbell, Kapolei and Leilehua each placed two players on the first team. Campbell was represented by catcher Anuhea Yamaguchi and utility player Breanne Patton.

Kapolei placed third baseman Kaiulani Clark and outfielder Ka'ili Smith. Leilehua was represented by first baseman Ciara Paracuelles and outfielder Alexandria Smith. Pearl City shortstop Sanoe Aina and Waipahu designated player Elsa Apo round out the first team.

Duhaylonsod, Oshiro, Clark, Smith and Yamaguchi are repeat first-team selections.

Mililani's Rose Antonio was named Coach of the Year.
