Amber Waracka's dream season started fittingly with a five-inning no-hitter with six strikeouts against Maryknoll in the Interscholastic League of Honolulu softball opener.
Things stayed pretty much on a high the rest of the way for Waracka, a senior right-hander who was named ILH Player of the Year in a recent vote of league coaches.
Waracka followed that opening gem with a one-hitter with 12 strikeouts against Sacred Hearts, a two-hitter against 'Iolani and a four-hitter with 16 Ks vs. St. Francis.
She later pitched a two-hitter with 16 strikeouts against Sacred Hearts, a two-hitter with eight Ks vs. 'Iolani, an 11-strikeout win over Pac-Five and a two-hitter with six Ks against Mid-Pacific.
League champion Kamehameha led the ILH all-star first-team selections with five players: Waracka, first baseman Jamie Millwood, second baseman Melissa Awa, third baseman Dara Pagaduan and outfielder Shaleese Javillo.
'Iolani was next with three first-team picks: shortstop Kylie Ahlo, outfielder Kryn Masutani and catcher Kai Masutani.
Maryknoll and Pac-Five each had two. Maryknoll was represented by outfielder Hillary Uekawa and pitcher Ariel Silva, and Pac-Five placed designated player Joedee Lovell and utility player Leann Lariosa.
Sacred Hearts pitcher Joslyn Eugenio rounds out the first team.
Maryknoll's John Uekawa was named Coach of the Year after guiding the Spartans to a Division I state tournament berth.
