ATLANTA — Kelly Johnson's unlikely ninth-inning error gave the Philadelphia Phillies new life.

Shane Victorino took advantage with his bat and arm the next inning.

Victorino, a St. Anthony High alum from Maui, drove in the go-ahead run with a triple in the 10th, then threw out Gregor Blanco at the plate as the tying run in the bottom of the inning as the Phillies beat the Atlanta Braves, 4-3, last night.

The Phillies took advantage of Johnson's error to tie the game 2-2.

The second baseman dropped a pop fly by Chris Coste with two outs in the ninth for an error, allowing Eric Bruntlett to score the tying run from second. Johnson threw out Pedro Feliz, who tried to score from first on the play, to end the inning.

"It was an unfortunate mistake for them, but tonight it worked out for us," Victorino said. "(Johnson) has always been a sound defensive player. It could happen to anyone."

Atlanta's Manny Acosta (3-4) gave up a leadoff double to pinch-hitter Chris Snelling in the 10th. Pinch-runner So Taguchi moved to third on a sacrifice and scored on Victorino's triple to right-center, his second of the game. Chase Utley added a run-scoring double off Royce Ring.

With one out, Josh Anderson singled off closer Brad Lidge and moved to third on Blanco's infield hit. Blanco stole second, but Lidge struck out Greg Norton. Yunel Escobar then drove in Anderson with a single to center, but Victorino threw out Blanco on a close play at the plate to end the game.

"I knew I had to charge the ball hard and get rid of it quick," Victorino said. "I knew it would be a close play. I wanted to give the catcher (Coste) a chance."Dodgers 3, Cubs 0: Hiroki Kuroda allowed four hits and struck out a career-high 11 in his first complete game, leading host Los Angeles over Chicago. Kuroda (3-5) did not walk a batter in his 13th big league start, induced two double plays and allowed only one baserunner as far as third — the result of his own throwing error.

DIAMONDBACKS 3, PIRATES 1

Brandon Webb became the majors' first 11-game winner with his second successive effective start as visiting Arizona beat Pittsburgh. Webb (11-2), coming off a 4-0 shutout win over Washington on Saturday, allowed one run and three hits over seven innings against the Pirates.

REDS 11, MARLINS 3

Jay Bruce continued his sizzling start in the majors with three hits and three more RBIs, and Johnny Cueto (5-5) pitched six innings to win his third straight start for visiting Cincinnati. Bruce is now hitting .463 with 10 RBIs in 11 games since being called up late last month.

ASTROS 6, CARDINALS 1

Hunter Pence had an RBI double and host Houston scored three runs on two St. Louis errors. Houston's Brian Moehler (3-2) had his best outing in six starts this season, allowing two hits and striking out five in seven innings.

GIANTS 10, NATIONALS 1

Tim Lincecum pitched seven sharp innings to win his fourth straight decision and Jose Castillo hit a three-run homer for visiting San Francisco. Lincecum (8-1) gave up one run and five hits, struck out five and walked none.

PADRES 2, METS 1

Randy Wolf pitched seven strong innings and Kevin Kouzmanoff drove in the go-ahead run in the sixth to lead host San Diego over New York. Wolf (4-4) limited the Mets to one run and seven hits, and worked out of two bases-loaded jams.

ROCKIES 6, BREWERS 4

Garrett Atkins tied the game with a two-run triple and Brad Hawpe gave host Colorado the lead with a two-run homer in a five-run eighth inning. The loss snapped the Brewers' six-game winning streak.

MARINERS 8, RED SOX 0

Felix Hernandez held a Boston lineup without Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz to six hits over six innings and visiting Seattle snapped a four-game losing streak. Hernandez (4-5) won for the second time in as many starts after going seven starts without a win. He walked three and struck out five.

ROYALS 2, YANKEES 1

Kyle Davies won his second consecutive start since being called up from the minors and Kansas City earned a rare victory at Yankee Stadium while snapping an 11-game road skid. Davies (2-0) gave up one run and seven hits in 6 2/3 innings as Kansas City improved to 2-19 in its last 21 visits to Yankee Stadium.

RAYS 12, RANGERS 4

Scott Kazmir went eight innings to win his career-best sixth straight start and Evan Longoria hit one of visiting Tampa Bay's four homers. Kazmir (6-1) allowed two runs and six hits, struck out six and walked none. B.J. Upton, Dioner Navarro and Eric Hinske also connected for the Rays.

WHITE SOX 10, TWINS 6

Carlos Quentin hit a three-run homer that deflected off right fielder Michael Cuddyer's glove and Joe Crede went 4 for 4 with two homers for host Chicago. Quentin, Chicago's surprise star this season, hit his 16th homer to cap a six-run fifth inning.

INDIANS 4, TIGERS 2

Paul Byrd pitched seven sharp innings to earn his 100th career win and Casey Blake had a two-run double in visiting Cleveland's three-run fourth. Byrd (3-5) allowed two runs and four hits.

ORIOLES 6, BLUE JAYS 5

Melvin Mora, Kevin Millar and Adam Jones all homered in visiting Baltimore's six-run eighth inning. Dennis Sarfate (3-1) got the win by retiring one batter in the seventh and George Sherrill closed it out for his 21st save.

ANGELS 3, ATHLETICS 1

Maicer Izturis homered on the third pitch of the game to give John Lackey an early lead and visiting Los Angeles beat Oakland. Lackey (2-1) took a shutout bid into the seventh but gave up a homer to Jack Cust.
