Summer Salsafest on Oahu set for June 19-21

The Islands' Hispanic community is planning a Hawaii Summer Salsafest June 19 through 21 at McCoy Pavilion, Ala Moana Park, and other venues.
Unofficially, the event is the 8th Annual Puerto Rican Cultural and Salsa Festival, a fundraiser for the Hispanic Center of Hawaii.
The schedule:
June 19, 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. — Kick-off party, at C'est Si Bon, Pagoda Hotel. $10 at the door, 18 and older. June 20, 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. — Salsa competition, Planet Hollywood Waikiki. $10 at the door, 18 and older. June 21, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. — Salsafest main event, McCoy Pavilion, Ala Moana Park. Featuring performances by Son Caribe of Honolulu and workshops in salsa, Cuba, tango and more by a host of visiting musicians and DJs from the Mainland, with local dancers participating. Also, salsa dance finals, food booths, arts and crafts, a beer and margarita garden. $25 advance ($20 seniors 65 and older and active-duty military), $30 at the gate ($25 for seniors and military), free for children 12 and under. June 21, 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. — Party at Visions Nightclub, 1372 S. King St. Best of Salsa with L.A. DJ Robby and DJ Tiger from Kona, in the main room; Noche Tropical with Wally Rita & Los Kauaianos from Kaua'i in the Lounge Room; $10 with Salsafest wristband or $15 at the door, 18 and older.On the Web: www.hawaiisummersalsafest.com
