A two-foot-long snake has been found in a bathroom of a house on O'ahu.

The state Department of Agriculture says the ball python was discovered in a small bucket next to a bathtub in the house in Kane'ohe.

A resident of the house called police, who called Plant Quarantine inspectors. It's not known how the snake got into the house.

Ball pythons are common in the pet trade on the Mainland, but snakes are illegal in Hawai'i.

The nonvenomous snake can grow up to six feet long. Its diet usually consists of small mammals and birds.
