Prosecutors today charged Jose Tubera Jr. with the stabbing death of his brother-in-law Tuesday night at their 'Ewa Beach home.

Tubera, 59, is accused of second-degree murder and first-degree terroristic threatening and is being held in lieu of $250,000 bail at the main police station cellblock pending his initial appearance tomorrow at District Court.

Adolfo Alonso Jr., 65, died of multiple stab wounds to the upper torso allegedly sustained during a fight with Tubera at their residence at 91-693 Pohakupuna Road.

An affidavit filed today at District Court stated that the victim's son, Richard Alonso, saw his father and Tubera involved in a "heated altercation" in the front yard of the residence at about 6 p.m.

Richard Alonso, 29, an Army man home on leave, went outside to break up the confrontation and saw that the argument had escalated into a "physical wrestling confrontation," the document stated.

His father was lying on the ground motionless and appeared to be unconscious, according to Richard Alonso, who saw Tubera brandishing a bladed knife that appeared to have blood on it.

Alonso's son was allegedly threatened with a knife by Tubera to prevent him from tending to his injured father, the affidavit said.
